Taarna will be 30 this year, I think. I went to see the original"Heavy Metal" on a whim - many, many moons ago - and for the most part of the film I was either bored or irritated by the puerile sexism and the music that was a timid washout - and then sat up and took notice of the last 10 or so minutes. Not because Taarna had boobs and walked about in the most ridiculous and impractical outfit for a warrior - but because she WAS a warrior, a powerful, noble and dignified one, determined, selfless and brave. - and to my mind THAT was what made her spellbindingly sexy. It still does. I tried here to recreate one of the three scenes that stil stick in my mind just from my memory without watching the film again, so fan-purists outhere, go easy on me.
